Claire Sumner is a Partner and Co-Founder of Sumner Deere. She defends individuals, healthcare providers, and businesses in high-exposure civil defense matters, with particular experience handling medical, dental, and chiropractic malpractice litigation and personal and professional liability claims. Claire approaches every case as if it will go to trial, and her clients benefit from a litigator who is just as effective at the negotiating table as she is in the courtroom.
Claire has tried numerous cases to verdict in both state and federal court, where she has consistently delivered favorable results for her clients. Claire also has significant experience before the Georgia Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of Georgia, giving her a unique perspective that shapes how she builds a case from day one.
Claire has been named to the Georgia Rising Stars® list every year since 2020, a distinction earned by just 2.5 percent of attorneys in the state.
Claire earned her J.D., with a concentration in advocacy and dispute resolution, from the University of Tennessee College of Law. She holds a B.A. in English from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
